Cobourne Garden Reserve - Port Waikato

The Cobourne Reserve was gifted to the Port Waikato district by the Cobourne family and the gardens have been developed and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. Located on top of the hill, just past the general store on the way to Port Waikato, the gardens are a tribute to both the Cobourne family and the dedicated volunteers who now maintain the gardens. Well worth stopping to have a look.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is located a short drive from Raglan. Accessed via a pleasant bush walk from the roadside carpark, it is one of the highest falls in the North Island. Overnight parking for up to 3 self-contained vans is allowed.

Port Waikato Holiday Park is located in the small Port Waikato town, just a short walk from the Waikato River access to the beach, and just over 1 km to the Surf Club and ocean beach. A great location for enjoying a country-beach lifestyle, with excellent fishing, and is one of the few places in New Zealand where dinosaur fossils can be found.

Te Uku Wind Farm Lookout

The tiny Waikato community of Te Uku pioneered a joint venture between a local community trust and Meridian Energy to set up a wind farm for generating electricity on the hills overlooking the town. The wind farm dominates the landscape when driving towards Raglan, and a local church has offered their car park area as a viewing platform.
