Kaitoke Regional Park is a large campsite managed by the Wellington Regional Council. It is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
The park is divided up into several different camping areas, each separated by native trees. There's plenty of room and yet the park doesn't feel huge when you get settled into your parking area.
The pictures in the heading slideshow are all taken in different camping areas within the park.
There are strategically placed facility blocks that include toilets and a barbeque cooking area.
It is bounded by the Hutt river, and there are river and forest walks in an imaculate and peaceful environment.
This campsite was given the Outstanding Park Award in 2013.
There is a small fee for staying at the campsite - which you can pay at the self-registration booth, or directly to the park ranger if he is at the office, or later during his rounds of the park.
This is one of our favourite locations for enjoying our unique Kiwi rural and forest environment. A place where you can just chill out and unwind.
