Dudding Lake Recreation and Holiday Park is set in a rural location south of Wanganui and offers water sports activities and low cost campsite facilities.

We called in to have a look at the lake en route from New Plymouth to a business meeting in Palmerston North. It was a warm sunny Labour day, and we found the lake was being well used as a recreation reserve. People were having picnics on the waters edge, while others were out in boats and kayaks, or water skiing.

There weren't any other motor caravanners, which I thought was a bit surprising as it is a beautiful location and the campsite fee of $25 per night for 2 adults in a powered site is quite reasonable.

While you can pay your compsite fee using the honesty box, you may need to call in to the Dudding Homestead to pick a facilities key in order to use the hot showers and laundry.

This is a great location for families travelling together. You can hire boats and jet skis, and there are playgrounds, trampolines, a water slide, and picnic tables available. And there is no cost if you are just calling in for a day visit.
