The Wool Company is just off SH1 south of Taihape. While we don't normally include shopping locations, this is a stand-out for buying luxurious woolen garments.
We noticed their sign as we were driving south, and decided to stop to see if I could replace my very well worn woolen jersey. We found just what I was looking for, made of luxuriously soft wool and possum fur. Not cheap, but it will get well used!
There's plenty of room for motorhome parking, and Margot is happy for self-contained motor caravanners to stay overnight.
