Locked door on the men's toilet
The Mangakino Public Dump Station has a large parking area, with public toilets, on the outskirts of Mangakino town.
Unfortunately the toilets were locked when we visited at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon. It may be just a temporary closure as there seemed no obvious reason why they would be locked.
While it has a large parking area in a semi-rural environment, freedom camping is not allowed. However, there are other much nicer options in Mangakino, like Lake Maraetai or the local Citizens Club.
