The large sealed carpark for the Lake Moana-Nui reserve is available to self-contained motor caravanners for parking overnight.

We called in on a sunny afternoon in late spring and were surprised to find such a pretty lake in a nicely landscaped reserve. Even on a weekday, people were out and enjoying the park.

There was even a free gas powered barbeque available for anyone wanting to cook up a picnic meal.

There plenty of room in the carpark for even the largest vans.

Self-contained caravans and campervans can stay the first two nights free then a camping permit is required for a longer stay. Camping in tents and vehicles requires a camping permit. This can be purchased from the South Waikato District Council offices or the district’s Information Centres. Click here for full details on the council website.
