The Kaihere Rest Area is located towards the northern end of State Highway 27 and has a panoramic view over Waikato farmland.
We stopped by on a drizzling wet afternoon, but took some pictures anyway. This is just off the main highway and a nice place to stop for a break, especially if heading south.
There are no signs about overnight parking, and it would be a reasonable choice if it getting late and you need somewhere to park.
