The Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge is also the home of the first Bungy Jump experience which A J Hackett started in 1988 and has now spread all around the world.
There is a large Bunjy jumping complex, complete with cafe and memoribilia. It's a bit touristy, but still very interesting to watch as crazy people leap off the bridge, with only an elastic rope attached to their ankles.
Overnight parking is allowed in an assigned area of the carpark, but we decided to move on to Cromwell - just a little too busy for us.
