Early Maori rock drawings
There is a parking area for the Takiroa Maori Rock Drawings with room for motorhome parking. This is an interesting historic site, and also make a nice break on the road from Oamaru to Aoraki Mt Cook.
We decided to stop on our way to meet up with friends at Lake Benmore. It takes about 10 minutes to walk there, and the artwork has become badly faded and vandalised, so there really isn't much to see. It's now behind a fence so you can't get close to it.
You can't stay in the parking area overnight.
