The Waipu Golf Club provides stunning views over Whangarei Harbour and, for a small fee, includes overnight parking for self-contained motor caravanners.
We visited the club with some good friends who play there regularly - keen to show us what a 'real' golf club is like!
There is a long driveway from the main road, but the view on arriving at the club house was stunning. The restaurant and facilities were excellent.
We got some conflicting advice about being able to park overnight, with one of the players advising that we couldn't because there are good campsites nearby. However, the club reception were happy for us to pay a small fee to stay overnight, so be sure to arrive in time to check in with reception.
The parking area was limited, so it would be best to avoid busy weekends.
