Norfolk Motel & Campervan Park is strategically located in Awanui, at the crossroads of State Highways 1 and 10, and is well positioned to explore further north up to Cape Reinga, and down through Doubtless Bay, Whangaroa and the Bay of Islands.
It's not a large campsite, but all the facilities are well maintained, and flowers were a nice touch in the showers. The swimming pool and spa pool would be well used over summer.
The powered sites were close to the toilet and shower facilities, which is very convenient, and not always the case in other campsites.
It was a drizzly wet afternoon when we arrived, so we only had time for a quick look around. Our overall impression was that this is a nice place to stay, and would be easy to come and go on day outings.
The owner was friendly and helpful, and can advise on a wide range of different activities, from hiking, fishing, horse treks, golf, or book you in to any of the local tours.
A good base to explore the Far North.
