The Waipu Clansman Motel has a grassed area out the back where motor caravanners can park overnight.
It had just been taken over by new owners when we called in, and they were busy tidying it up.
There is a nice restaurant upstairs where you can have a meal if you'd like a break from preparing meals.
It costs $20 per night if you want to use their toilets and shower, or $10 per night if you are self-contained.
