Waipu Cove Cottages and Camping is just outside the Waipu Cove town. It has direct access to the beach, complimentary row boats, and plenty of activity for the kids.
After our somewhat negative impression of Waipu Cove, this is a much nicer campsite for motor caravanners. It's not large, but has excellent facilities, is sheltered and close to the beach.
It was really full with tent campers when we visited in mid-January. Outside of the silly summer season, this would be a peaceful location just to chill out with good showers and toilets on hand.
