FREEDOM CAMPING IS NO LONGER ALLOWED

Colins Memorial Reserve is a small free parking area just over 7km south of Picton town centre, providing reasonable public toilets and level, sealed parking.

However, we had just driven in to the Interislander ferry terminal to book a crossing to Wellington the next day, and we were advised that the only free parking area that we can use is over 7km out of town. We weren't particularly happy about driving back out of town, and when we got there we decided to return and stay overnight at the RSA, that provides low cost overnight parking for NZMCA members.

The Picton RSA is a branch of the Returned Servicemans Association, and typically offers a really nice basic meal - which we decided to take advantage of.
