HAWKES BAY: HASTINGS

There is a small seaside community at Pourere Beach, and motor caravanners are able to freedom camp right on the beach front.

This is another great location, with direct access to the beach, toilets if you need them, and the safety of having a small community of houses nearby.

The reserve was being well used even in mid autumn, but there was plenty of room. Fishing is also popular and we saw a number of boats being towed along the beach while we stayed overnight.

Nice sunrises as well, if you get up early.

If you continue along the access road, you'll find another parking area that is higher up, but still overlooking the beach. Even further on is another community of holiday baches.
