Tolaga Bay Rescue Centre Reserve

The Rescue Centre in Tolaga Bay includes a large reserve which is available for Freedom Camping for self-contained motor caravanners.
You do require a Gisborne District Council permit to stay overnight, which you can purchase at the Opotiki or Gisborne i-Sites, depending on which way you're travelling around the Cape.
The camping area is separated from the beach by Ferneaux Road, but is a large grassed area that is level and would make a nice location for spending a few days.
Freedom camping is allowed further along Ferneaux Rd as well, so you are always likely to find a nice place to park, even for large vans.
With a beautiful sandy beach this is a prime location for beach lovers.
