GISBORNE: EAST CAPE

Along Beach Road in Tokomaru Bay there are signposted grass reserves where self-contained motor caravanners can park overnight.

Tokomaru Bay is a small community right on the beach front, and in a really beautiful location. Self-contained motor caravanners can feel welcome here, with signs identifying places where you can park. 

It's a laid back environment and would be a great place to chill out for a few days, do some fishing, go for walks along the beach, or eat out in the Te Puka Tavern.

The town itself looks well maintained, except that most of the commercial buildings are boarded up. There is a Four Square store where you can buy groceries.

We really like this small town. If you enjoy a peaceful, sleepy, totally non-commercial New Zealand beach environment, this is a great place to visit.
