The Freedom Camping Trial is now finished, and you might not be able to stay at this location
The Council is presently reviewing their Freedom Camping Bylaw
The freedom campling locations at Snells Beach and Algies Bay are still available

We arrived at the Gulf Harbour car park at around 5:30pm and got ourselves set up for the night, and had some dinner. Internet access was ok using my mobile phone, so I was able to catch up with writing up some of the locations we had visited over the past few days.

There was plenty of room for parking and the toilets were clean and well maintained. It was a bit windy that evening, but the next morning was sunny, and I had a good look around, taking some pictures. Even on a Monday, boats were being launched from the pontoon nearby, and there were several vans overnighting.

There is a restaurant should you want to eat out, and also a BurnsCo, which supplies a range of marine and motorhome equipment.

We had a pleasant stay.

We have stayed overnight here several times. A lovely spot where you can park right on the waterfront with views across to Auckland CBD. Interesting place with pleasure boats and ferries coming and going. Reasonably popular, even in May there were around ten campers overnight.
