The Council is presently reviewing their Freedom Camping Bylaw which will hopefully be completed in 2019

Wilsons Access to Clarks Beach is a nice location for a picnic where you can park directly overlooking the beach.
It's a nice quiet spot, but unlike Halls Access, there are no public toilets.
Likewise, the no camping sign isn't clear on whether or not motor caravanners in certified self contained vans are able to stay overnight.

Lovely place to park during the day for a picnic, swim and beach walk. There is an outside cold water shower beside a small building which I think is a toilet, [didn't check inside]. We were one of two motorhomes here enjoying a beach day in February. We then camped at nearby Waiau Pa Boat Club, which has a really pleasant grassy area available for self contained NZMCA Members.
